Today, Northeast Missouri supports thriving companies with international ties: German-based BASF, Mexican-American joint venture Hannibal Bio-Tech, General Mills, Poet Bio-refining, Onshore Technologies, and Cardwell Lumber — which makes barrel staves for wine and whiskey producers in the U.K. and Australia — to name a few. Major highway upgrades are underway providing high speed links between St. Louis, Missouri, and St. Paul, Minnesota, between Chicago and Kansas City, and between I-70 and I-80. Mississippi River transportation is as important today as it was in Twain’s time — now provided by the Mid-American Port Commission.
Northeast Missouri has five institutions of higher education: Truman State University, A.T. Still Medical University, Culver-Stockton College, Hannibal–LaGrange College, and Moberly Area Community College (MACC). MACC has branch facilities in Kirksville, Edina, Hannibal, and Mexico, Missouri.
If your company seeks a U.S. location, Northeast Missouri should be on your “must see” list — not just for our history, but for our access to markets, affordable sites and buildings, productive employees, low utility costs, and pro-business climate. When you call us, you’ll find a knowledgeable business development team ready to help you write your own unique story where Mark Twain wrote his.
